Operations Specialist - NC - On Site

Position Summary
Customer relations, scheduling and coordination of import/export shipments via air and ocean. Compile documents related to shipments, book cargo with carriers and trucking companies. Shipment track and trace. Basic accounting functions (invoicing, payables). This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate air and ocean shipments, imports and exports with thorough knowledge of related procedures and documentation.
- Prepare relevant documentation for export (HAWB's, MAWB's, Manifests, Shipping Instructions, Hazardous Cargo Declarations, Certificates of Origin, etc.)
- Route and arrange bookings/pickups with contracted airlines, ocean carriers, drayage companies, marine & air terminal operations and warehouse partners.
- Awareness of import & export regulations and doc. requirements for major countries
- Daily tracking and follow up on all shipments/modes via CargoWise, including learning advanced features of CargoWise and using it to optimal capacity
- Constant communication with customers, including educating them on CargoWise & assisting with producing & providing standard & customized reports
- Invoice customers/overseas agents/vendors etc. within timeframe set by upper management.
- Independently respond to general inquiries from customers as well as overseas offices and agents.
- Identify new service opportunities with existing customers and report to our management & sales in acquiring new business.
- Work closely with all of ours departments and offices worldwide, including Customs brokerage (in-house or external) and Pricing.
- Continuous updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for assigned customers.
- Perform additional duties as requested by management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Detailed knowledge of the global logistics and transportation industry
- Excellent customer service skills, including written & verbal proficiency in English.
- Well-organized with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable transportation
Education & Experience
- 5-7 years of freight forwarding experience (ocean & air, import & export).
- Experience using MS Office applications & shipping-related portals such as INTTRA, GT Nexus, etc.
