CNC Programmer and Machinist - CO - On Site

Position Summary
The position is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to manufacture precision components for various industries, including aerospace, medical, technology, and automotive. The role requires a strong focus on quality, safety, and adherence to company and industry standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- CNC Programming and Machining
- Utilize Mastercam to create and modify CNC programs based on customer-provided blueprints and specifications.
- Set up and operate 3, 4, & 5-axis CNC machines to produce precision components.
- Perform simulations and first article inspections to ensure program accuracy and part conformity.
- Make necessary adjustments to machine settings to maintain product quality and meet tight tolerances
- Product Quality
- Conduct in-process inspections using calibrated measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, 5-axis automated CMM) to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records in accordance with quality control procedures.
- Identify and address nonconforming products, implementing corrective actions as required.
- Shop Safety and Material Handling
- Adhere to all shop safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and machine guards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and improve efficiency.
- Safely handle and store raw materials and finished products to prevent damage and contamination.
- Ensure all materials used are approved and free from counterfeit or unapproved parts.
- Calibrated Equipment Use
- Properly use and maintain all calibrated measuring tools, ensuring they are regularly calibrated and in good working condition.
- Report any damaged or out-of-calibration equipment to the Production Supervisor for immediate action.
- Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Awareness
- Maintain vigilance for foreign object debris in the work area and on the machines.
- Follow procedures to prevent FOD from contaminating products and workspaces.
- Nonconforming Product Process
- Segregate and mark nonconforming products clearly, and follow established procedures for rework, scrap, or customer concession.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence of nonconformities.
- Scrap Handling
- Dispose of scrap material according to company procedures, ensuring it is properly marked and stored until final disposition.
- Prevent unauthorized use of scrap parts by ensuring they are rendered unusable before disposal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skills and Competencies
- Strong understanding of shop safety practices and material handling procedures.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, CAD models, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use and maintain calibrated measuring equipment properly.
- Knowledge of quality control principles and experience with AS9100D or ISO 9001 standards is a plus.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating CNC machines
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in CNC machining or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC programming and machining, with proficiency in CAD/CAM software.
