Position Summary
We are currently looking for a Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team in the Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems industry.
This individual shall take responsibility for completing a system review and providing a full design, including Risers, Floor Plans, and Point-to-Point Diagrams for large commercial occupancies in New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey. The chosen candidate shall take pride in their work, exhibit the ability to provide exceptional support to customers and colleagues and have the ability to take the lead on new product research for expanded offerings.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Review Construction drawings for code compliance
- Identify required Fire Alarm components to design a code-compliant system
- Spot devices and generate floorplans per the local code and NFPA72
- Prepare layouts including Floorplans, Risers, and Point-to-Point Wiring Diagrams
- Communicate with Sales Team, provide feedback on changes to initial design estimate
- Respond to Service, answering technical questions regarding design intent
- Assist with internal and customer inquiries, strong communication and written skills having confidence in your knowledge and abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with changing needs and priorities
- Be an expert in Fire Alarm System Design and Code Compliance
- Proactively take initiative to learn other Life Safety systems including, Auxiliary Radio Communication (ARCs), Public Address (PA), Area of Rescue (AOR) and Gas Detection Systems.
- Sets priorities for key projects. Effectively manages project resources when coordinating competing priorities and deadlines.
- Collaborates with colleagues by sharing information, project status, skills, and knowledge with others.
- Draws upon appropriate company resources to effectively resolve client challenges and related business challenges
- Stays current with latest technological, construction, regulatory, and industry thinking and approaches. Maintains a good sense of the local business climate and apply learnings to sales and client support activities/duties.
- Engage with Local Municipalities', Fire Marshal's, Engineer's & Architect's
- Have a strong attention to detail, review all construction documents and specifications, and cross-reference with systems design for accuracy
Qualifications
- 7+ Years Experience in Fire Alarm System Design & Engineering
- Proven experience in designing Networked systems
- Experience with Edwards Fire product, a plus
- NICET Level I or II, a Plus
- Proficient in NFPA 72, Locally Adopted Building & Fire codes
- Proficient in AutoCAD Lite (version 2019+)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
