Position Summary

We are a unique design and manufacturing company that transforms used steel shipping containersinto elegant, edgy, and hyper-functional commercial buildings including cafes, beer and wine tasting rooms, restaurants, retail stores and offices. We are at the forefront of an exciting new movement in the modular construction and commercial real estate industries!

With our continued growth, we are currently seeking well-rounded and highly experienced Senior Builders / Carpenters to join and lead our amazing manufacturing team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, construct, install, modify, inspect, remove, repair and rebuild components, assemblies, and structures to modify and finish shipping containers including floors, walls, ceilings, windows, doors, equipment, fixtures, and finishes.
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Interpret complex architectural drawings, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine build approach, process and sequence.
  • Verify specifications by checking completed build or installation against established quality measures.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions or installation to meet specifications; notify supervisor to obtain deviation approval as needed.
  • Document actions, discrepancies, and findings by completing quality control forms and creating and updating production procedure documents.
  • Active hands-on involvement in all aspects and phases of the production build, from rough to fine finish work
  • Motivate, support, mentor, and provide guidance to production staff.
  • Ensure all safety and health standards are met to keep your team and the organization accident-free.
  • Communicate regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production.
  • Communicate with the Design team to troubleshoot and resolve issues, and ensure consistency with design intent.
  • Develop daily and weekly productivity goals consistent with established project/program schedules.
  • Prepare work to be accomplished by studying procedures, assembly instructions, and parts lists; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • his position reports to the Head of Operations or designated supervisor.

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years carpentry/construction/building experience required
  • 2+ years lead carpenter or similar supervisory experience preferred
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates degree or some college preferred.
  • Safety-conscious with an extreme respect for established safety guidelines and rule
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings and designs.
  • Proficiency using tools and machinery including table saw, router, angle grinder, bandsaw, level, measuring tape, etc.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn fabrication and production methods and techniques.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proven attention to detail
  • Dependable stable work history without attendance issues.
  • Proven proficiency in finish carpentry, cabinetmaking, and/or construction is required
  • Experience with metal fabrication is a plus, but not required.
